The CPI today stressed the need for "reunification" of the country's Communist movement on the basis of principle against the backdrop of "growing offensive" of right-wing reactionary forces.
CPI general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy, however, said the "reunification" did not mean the merger of his party with any other outfit.
"There is a necessity of reunification of the Communist movement in India in the background of the growing offensive of right reaction in the country. We want all Communist parties, formed after the 1964 split should reunite, and the CPI and the CPI(M) should take the initiative," Reddy said in a statement.
"There is no place of merger of CPI with any party, but only call for reunification of Communist movement on a principled basis. We stand for this," he added.
