CPI today congratulated Cuban President Raul Castro on his re-election as First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and hoped it will result in strong ties between the two parties.
"I am really happy to learn that you have been re-elected First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba. I am certain that under your leadership our party-to-party relations and ties between our two people will be further strengthened," CPI general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy said in a message to Castro.
Castro was re-elected to the post yesterday during the seventh Congress of his party held in Havana.
Castro was first elected to the party top post in 2011, replacing his elder brother Fidel Castro.
