"The attackers under the leadership of Trinamool local leader Arabul Islam today smashed Mollah's vehicle and injured him badly," CPI(M) state secretary and Left Front Chairman Biman Bose said.

Describing such incidents as attempts to suppress opposition's voice, Bose alleged that Trinamool goons set fire to CPI(M) local party office last night.

Demanding immediate arrest of Arabul Islam, Leader of the Opposition Surjya Kanta Mishra said, "CPI(M) will gherao the office of Superintendent of Police if he is not arrested within 48 hours."

Superintendent of Police Praveen Tripathi said that a complaint has been lodged in this regard.

"Six persons have been arrested for putting up road blockades to protest against the incident," he said.

A doctor of the private hospital where Mollah was being treated said his condition is stable.
