"They are lodging complaints with the ECI almost every day and are repeating the complaints even when hearing is complete on specific complaints," state party Secretary Bijan Dhar said.

"The Congress party is afraid of facing the people in the elections due in February next year, so they have hatched a conspiracy to delay it," he alleged.

He said, two CPI-M MPs, Sitaram Yechuri and Khagen Das met the full bench of ECI on December 21 and apprised it that the Congress was almost daily filing complaints in plain papers instead of the prescribed forms which was delaying the natural process of elections.

Dhar said, the CPI-M also wanted error free voters list, but in the name of its rectification the process of elections could not be delayed.

Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee chief, Sudip Roy Burman and General Secretary Subal Bhaumick also met the ECI in Delhi on December 21 and alleged that the CPI-M had manipulated the voters list by influencing the administration as a result of which it remained faulty.

"We have deposited 8000 fresh complaints on white paper to the ECI in Delhi and they assured to review them. We have deposited two lakh complaints," Bhaumick said here.

To a question he said, "We want error free voters list and the process of making it so might take time. But we are not responsible for the delay."

The ECI has declared that the final voters list would be published on January 12 next year.

Bhaumick alleged that the Chief Electoral Officer, Ashutosh Jindal was not impartial, and said "but Congress is not demanding his removal from the post right now."
