CPI-M candidate wins RS election from Tripura

CPI-M candidate for the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Tripura Jharna Das Baidya, the sitting MP, was today elected for the second term, official sources said.
Returning officer of the election Bam Deb Majumder said that Das Baidya defeated her Congress rival Jyotirmoy Nath by 39 votes.
He said Das Baidya received 49 votes out of 60 votes and her rival got 10. One voter, minister without portfolio Bhanu Lal Saha, did not cast his vote.
The Left Front has 50 MLAs in the 60 member Assembly.
