Training their guns on Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, CPI(M) today demanded his resignation, while BJP wanted a CBI probe, a day after K Babu was forced to quit as the excise minister in the bar bribery scam.
CPI(M) Politbureau member Pinarayi Vijayan, now on his 'Nava Kerala' yatra across the state, said at Malappuram that both Chandy and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, who holds the vigilance portfolio, should resign.
"Since the Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau was severely criticised by the Thrissur vigilance court yesterday for not filing the quick verification report against Babu, both Chandy and Chennithala cannot continue in the post," he said.
BJP state President Kummanam Rajeshekaran, now on his 'Vimochana Yatra' , said at Kozhikode that if CBI conducts a probe in the bar case, the involvement of various persons, including the role of Chandy, will be clear, he said.
The bar case, solar case and SNC Lavalin case had brought disrepute to the state, he added.
