"We demand constitution of a high level commission to go into the whole nitty-gritty details about the implementation of the Roshni Act in the state. Only big sharks like bureaucrats, politicians and moneyed persons have benefited by the scheme," CPI(M) state secretary M Y Tarigami said in the the state Assembly.
Instead of providing envisaged light and hope, the scheme has brought poor people into darkness and despair. It proved to be a big fraud for deserving people, Tarigami said during the debate on demand of grants for the Departments of Revenue, Rehabilitation, Law and Parlimentary Affairts.
He stressed on the need to rationalise the move to open new administrative units, so that genuinely left out areas are included.
Tarigami also called for constitution of the proposed Law Commission in the state without further delay, observing that increase in fees and honorarium of standing councils was necessary for them to defend government cases in various courts.
