At the same time, it accused the Centre of failing to take any measures to protect the interest of Tamils in Sri Lanka.

"Three years have passed since the elimination of LTTE and Tamils being put up in camps, but the the suffering of Tamils continues in the island nation and the UPA government is remaining silent and failed to take any action to find a political soultion or rehabilitation of Tamils," CPI(M) state secretary G Ramakrishnan told reporters here.

However, the party "totally disapproves of the attacks on Sinhalese pilgrims in Velankanni or sending back of Sri Lankan football players, to lodge the protest against Sri Lanka."

On the stalling of functioning of Parliament by BJP over Coalgate, Ramrkrishnan said it was not acceptable to the party.

The party wanted the Centre to hand over coal blocks to the public sector, he said.

Alleging a "mega scam" in the granite quarrying in the state, Ramakrishnan sought a CBI inquiry.
