CPI(M) flays Mehbooba Mufti's statement on Modi
Press Trust of India Srinagar CPI(M) in Jammu and Kashmir today expressed "surprise and disappointment" over PDP president Mehbooba Mufti's statement that BJP leader Narendra Modi could take "tough and positive decisions," on Kashmir issue, and appealed all the secular forces to close their ranks.
"We suggest that all well meaning and genuine secular forces must close their ranks in order to defeat the designs of this vicious communal platform," state Secretary of CPI(M) M Y Tarigami said in a statement here.
Reacting to the statement of Mehbooba Mufti that Modi can take "tough and positive decisions, may be positive ones on Kashmir issue", Tarigami expressed surprise and disappointment over the comment.
"PDP president has expressed the belief that Modi will take pro-Kashmir tough and positive decisions regardless of the fact that he is being seen as an icon of rabid communal platform," he said.
Tarigami said Modi is known for his consistent demand for abrogating Article 370 and special status to the state.
