CPI(M) today decided to go in for state-specific seat sharing arrangements with non-Congress, non-BJP parties in the next general elections as well as in the upcoming Assembly elections in five states.
The Central Committee during its two-day long meeting deliberated on poll preparations and decided to keep options open and continue talks with Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, Biju Janata Dal in Odisha and Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh.
The party has already called for setting up a non-Congress, non-BJP platform with secular and democratic parties in the next Lok Sabha polls.
Party sources said talks would also be held with the leadership of AIADMK in Tamil Nadu and AGP in Assam.
CPI(M) has already forged an alliance in Rajasthan with CPI, Samajwadi Party, JD(U) and JD(S), while a similar platform is on the verge of being finalised in Chhattisgarh, they said.
Discussing the results of the recently concluded Panchayat elections in West Bengal, where Left Front was decimated by ruling Trinamool Congress, the Central Committee members decided to take aggressive steps to reconnect with the people and restore their mass following in rural areas.
The siege to of state secretariat in Kerala launched by CPI(M)-led LDF against the Oommen Chandy government on the solar panel scam was also deliberated upon during the course of the meeting, sources said.
