Although BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan, an RSS pracharak, said the party treats both CPI(M) and Congress as its main rivals in state politics, political violence, allegedly involving CPI(M) activists in Kannur district was the main discussion point in the meeting attended by top BJP and Sangh parivar leaders.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, Rajasekharan said it discussed "the style of functioning" of CPI(M) in the state and flayed the main Left party for "targeting and killing" RSS-BJP workers, particularly in politically volatile Kannur district.
The Sangh outfits' statement comes after CBI failed to get the custody of CPI-M Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan for interrogation, after his arrest in connection with his suspected role in murder of RSS worker E Manoj.
Jayarajan, a heart patient, is admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital at Kozhikode following his remand.
He said BJP and Sangh outfits would organise "Desa Bhakt Sangamam" against "anti-nationals" in all panchayats in the state.
Rajasekharan also said the meeting discussed the poll strategy and alliance partners in the state.
