The CPI(M-L) Liberation today expressed concern over Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's impending visit to the state to meet kin of those killed in blasts during his 'Hunkar rally' on Sunday, fearing that "it will vitiate peace and communal harmony in the state."

CPI(M-L) Liberation General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya told reporters that the BJP has been trying to create an atmosphere of terror and fear among the people after the serial blasts.

"It's a matter of concern that Modi is visiting Bihar on November two that will vitiate peace and communal harmony in the state which is trying to come to terms with the Patna serial blasts," Bhattacharya said.

Bhattacharya apprehended that the BJP's bid to take the 'Asthi Kalash' (urn containing ashes) of the six victims of the Patna serial blasts to their native villages could whip up a communal frenzy in Bihar and appealed to the people to guard against the Sangh Parivar's "nefarious designs to communally polarise society in the run-up to the general elections."

He said that the CPI(M-L) Liberation will launch a campaign in Bihar against attempts being made to create an atmosphere of communal frenzy by the Sangh Parivar.

The CPI(M-L) Liberation leader also slammed Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for making a "hollow" claim about spearheading fight against communalism and said that he was squarely responsible for allowing the BJP to spread its tentacles during 17 year-long alliance with the JD(U).

"Having made Bihar a new Gujarat, Kumar was falsely claiming to be a champion of secularism," he said and hit out at the former for "joining forces with the Congress for political convenience."

Bhattacharya also thanked the people of Bihar for turning out in large numbers at its 'Khabardar Rally' in the state capital yesterday, ignoring threat to their security arising out of the serial blasts.
