Seema, a leader of CPI-M's women wing AIDWA, also took strong exception to RSS chief Mohan Bhagawat's observation that the influence of western culture contributed to violence against women in urban areas.
In a statement here, she said the BJP leader's comment had "crossed the limit" and is liable to be "punished" for the derogatory remark against women.
"Who is Vijayvargiya to set limits to for women ? That too this kind of a derogatory comment has come when women are struggling for their safety and self-esteem," Seema asked.
Elected representatives should at least be cautious and guarded in their statements at a time when the nation is yet to recover from the shock of the Delhi gang rape incident, she said.
Seema also slammed RSS chief Mohan Bhagawat's statement, blaming western values for increase in sexual crimes against women.
"This trend of blaming the victims and not the perpetrators of the crime is only going to encourage the latter to humiliate, hate, strip, beat and rape innocent women," she said.
