In its 18-point election manifesto, the party said that it would pursue policies and programmes different from the BJP and the Congress, and that it would play the role of an effective opposition.
CPI(M) state secretary Onkar Shad said that the burning problems of unemployment, contract appointments, agriculture crisis, rising prices and corruption were the fallout of neo- liberal economic policies, pursued by both the BJP and the Congress.
CPI(M) leader Tikender Panwar said that a strong social structure was imperative for development and that the party would concentrate on it and exert pressure on the government in the Assembly.
