Opposition CPI(M)'s mouthpiece in Tripura, 'Daily Desher Katha', resumed its publication from Thursday after a gap of 10 days following an order passed by the Tripura High Court on Wednesday.

The publication of the newspaper had stopped since October 1 following an order of the District Magistrate of West Tripura district Sandip N Mahatme.

A preliminary investigation conducted by the District Magistrate into a complaint allegedly for violating the Press and Registration of Books Act, had reportedly found "substance" in the complaint and a hearing process was initiated and the publication was stopped from October 1 last.

The newspaper filed a writ petition in the Tripura High Court and the court in its order on Wednesday stayed the deregistration of 'Daily Desher Katha' and paved the way for the Bengali daily to resume publication.

The newspaper published its 49th issue of the 40th year of its publication Thursday with a declaration which names Samir Paul as editor and says that the newspaper is printed at Tripura Printers & Publishers Private Limited and published by the Daily Desher Katha Trust.

Publication of the newspaper was resumed today. The High Court issued stay order on an administrative order which stopped publication. There is no problem in publication now. We are satisfied at the Courts order, editor of Daily Desher Katha Samir Paul told reporters.
