The party said it was "unprecedented" that under the pretext of investigating charges against a bureaucrat, the office of a Chief Minister should be sealed and files searched as alleged by Kejriwal.
"The CBI raid on the office of Kejriwal is highly condemnable and smacks of a politically motivated act. It is unprecedented that in the name of investigating the accusations against a bureaucrat, the office of the Chief Minister should be sealed and files searched, as alleged by the Chief Minister," CPI(M) said in a statement.
"This raid is a new low in the Modi Government's encroachment on the rights and dignity of non-BJP elected Governments," it charged.
Kejriwal today claimed the CBI has raided his office in central Delhi and launched a no holds barred attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he was resorting to "cowardice".
The Chief Minister, who is involved in a prolonged tussle with the Centre, accused the Modi government of resorting to vendetta politics and came down heavily on the agency for the raids at Players Building.
