Communist Party of India (Marxist) today put up a blockade at main entrance of the mini-secretariat at Panchkula against alleged utter callousness and indifference of the Haryana and UPA government towards basic issues of livelihood of the common people.
The move was part of the party's pan-India call to picket at government offices.
Demonstrators assembled at Mazri Chowk in Panchkula, near here, and took out a procession which included several women, a party release said here.
Party workers entered the mini-secretariat and occupied the main entrance raising slogans in favour of their long pending issues including food security, right to health and education, inclusion of all poor families in the BPL list and others, the release said.
Addressing party workers, CPI(M) state secretary Inderjit Singh held the policies of UPA government "responsible for creating a shining India for the corporate sector, while rendering the toiling people to misery and deprivation."
He also condemned the Hooda government for allegedly suppressing all genuine protests, using the police.
The blockade was later lifted with the intervention of the area Sub Divisional Magistrate.
