The CPI(M) today approached Union Minister Manoj Sinha, complaining that Internet services provided by MTNL at the party's head office here had not been working for a week, and urged him to probe if there was a "deliberate attempt" to interrupt the services.
In a letter to the Minister of State for Communications, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury said the problem pertaining to the five fibre-to-home connections persisted from August 11, affecting work at the party office.
This, he added, was notwithstanding the Left party taking up the issue of "disruption" with various authorities at the Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), a state-owned telecommunication service provider.
"With repeated complaints from our office to various authorities at MTNL having failed to yield any response, I am compelled to approach you to instruct the authorities concerned in MTNL, falling under your ministry, to restore services immediately," Yechury said.
"I would also urge upon you to enquire whether there has been a deliberate attempt to interrupt these services. Given the urgency, I hope you will intervene and do the needful immediately," he added.
