"Traditional left forces have been wiped out of the state. When people's anger against Narendra Modi government is mounting, it is the duty of radical left, democratic and secular forces to strengthen the people's alternative," DPF convener and general secretary of CPI (Marxist-Leninist) K N Ramchandran told reporters here today.
Criticising Modi for protesting the move to allow FDI in multi-brand retail, he said in the name of development, he has made Gujarat "the most open area in the country" for neo-liberal economic policies.
"In three so-called 'vibrant' global summits what Modi asked in the form of MoUs with MNCs and other foreign partners was nothing else, but the backdoor entry of foreign direct investment in the state," Mukul Sinha of the New Socialist Movement and leading human rights activist in the state said.
Sinha, who also provides legal assistance to petitioners in all four high profile encounter cases of Sohrabuddin Shaikh, Tulsi Prajapati, Sadiq Jamal and Ishrat Jahan, had contested and lost the state assembly elections.
He said the DPF plans to field candidates in the upcoming assembly elections, but added that it was too early to tell how many candidates it would put up.
He said DPF plans to organise an 'oust Narendra Modi rally' here on November 7.
