"The party has decided to strengthen the ongoing anti-nuclear plant movements in Jaitapur, Koodankulam, Haripur and elsewhere," party's national General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said at the ninth Congress here.
A release quoting him claimed that while dependence on nuclear energy was falling across the world, "the ruling regime is going the opposite way to please the US imperialism in utter disregard of people's interest and national sovereignty."
It also slammed the repeal of Urban Land Ceiling Act and public-private partnerships to provide infrastructure and basic services in urban areas.
Opposing genetically modified organisms, the release said, "We must demand immediate ban/moratorium on the use of these deadly organisms in both cash and food crops."
Passing a resolution on environmental protection and people-centric development, the release said the party stressed upon forest rights, ensuring adequate water for agricultural and home use through "systematic strategies.
