"The mining scam is gradually exposing. Now, the state government has imposed Rs 70,000 crore penalty on mines owners for excess ore production. Since big firms are involved in it, a CBI probe can do justice," party general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya told a rally here.

Criticising the role of the Centre for allegedly failing to stop loot of valuable mineral resources in different states including Odisha, Bhattacharya said the UPA government was now out to invite multi nationals in multi-brand retail sector.

"All Left parties are united on the issue of FDI in retail sector," he said.

Rejecting the Centre's Land Acquisition Bill, the CPI(ML) Liberation demanded a Land Conservation Bill in order to protect valuable land in the country. "There is a need to conserve agricultural, forest and coastal land. These lands should not be used in other purposes," Bhattacharya said.

Party's state unit secretary Khitish Biswal also addressed the gathering.
