CPI(M) today accused Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal of unleashing a reign of terror on the opposition, forcing over 60,000 party supporters to flee their homes.
Ritabrata Banerjee, a Rajya Sabha Member of CPI (M), expressed concern over the alleged fascist attacks on democracy under the Trinamool Congress regime.
Addressing a gathering at the function organized by its Jharkhand State Committee at HDC Hall here as a part of All India Solidarity Week being observed from August 1-7, Banerjee said the police administration of the state was being mute spectator to such attacks.
Over the last five years ever since TMC came to power in West Bengal in 2011, 176 CPI (M) workers have been murdered, 3200 have been wounded and more than 60,000 party supporters forced to flee their homes, Banerjee claimed adding that more than 900 offices of the party/mass organization have been looted or forcibly occupied by alleged TMC-backed miscreants.
Since the 2016 assembly elections, he said 12 people have been murdered in the state by alleged TMC led anti-social elements, he further alleged.
