The 44-year old British actor successfully completed a written test before embarking on a five-hour classroom-based driving safety course in September to allow him to legally get behind the wheel in the Big Apple.

Craig and his actress wife Rachel Weisz were accompanied by a friend when he went to take his behind-the-wheel test on Staten Island.

Richard Fernandez, an office manager at the Professional Driving School of the Americas in Manhattan, said, "His assistant requested a special class for Daniel by himself. No other students were there. He was such a nice dude, so friendly."

The course involved videos and lectures on proper turns, driving in extreme weather conditions, parallel parking and three-point turns, and the dangers of alcohol and driving.

According to the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Web site, foreigners must pass a written test, complete a five-hour prelicensing driving-safety course and pass a road test in order to qualify for a driver's license.

Craig's 007 avatar onscreen in known for his dangerous stunts behind the wheels. The actor famously flipped his Aston Martin DBS in 'Casino Royale' to avoid hitting a bound-and-gagged Eva Green lying on a windy street.

His latest movie 'Skyfall' also features a car chase in the climax scene.
