The actress said 'Crazy Cukkad Family' came to her at the right time of her career.
"There is always an effort to do something different. I would say that in this case, it is more to do with the timing. I think it happened on its own. When you are meant to be there you are there. It was nice as there was not any intense training. Preparing and doing the film has been a very different kind of process. It has been very fulfilling. It was so much fun on sets," Shilpa told PTI during a visit here.
The movie is a story about four estranged children, who come together for their ailing father in hope that he dies soon so his wealth will be theirs. Shilpa plays one of colourful characters in the crazy Beri household and she said she felt very relaxed while shooting the film.
"It is a very different role. There was no heaviness about the role. It was such a let go kind of role. Archana Beri is aged but her brain is of a 13-year-old. In her childhood some things have happened and that has made her into a bitter person.
Post the release of the film on January 16, Shilpa said she will get busy preparing for a play, which is based on Dario Fo's 'A Woman Alone'. The play will be staged here next month.
"I am returning to theatres after a gap of almost 10 years. Stage is a different game. So I need to prepare myself well," Shilpa said.
