Cricketer, actor join hands for health initiative

Veteran cricketer Raju Mukherjee has joined an initiative to help non-celebrity sportspersons economically.
"I am in favour of bringing to limelight the contributions of those including fieldsman and groundstaff by extending the health benefits to them in future," Mukherjee, Bengal's dependable right handed batsman in 70s, said.
Mukherjee was speaking after conferring 'Aponjon' honours to talented sportspersons Monojit Chanda and Alok Bhattacharya instituted by the Medica Superspeciality group.
About his cricket World Cup predictions, the 64-year old said it was good to see India keeping its winnng momentum. Thespian Manoj Mitra, who bestowed 'Aponjon' honour to Chanda Chatterjee and Nimai Ghosh (in Theatre and Television), said the international character of Bengali theatre remained its hallmark.

I also feel people behind the scenes like technicians have no less a contribution in synchronising a show and making it perfect," Mitra said.
"I miss a theatre like 'Tiner Talowar' by Utpal Dutta these days nevertheless," the 'Banchharamer Bagan' actor told PTI later on.
