The CPI today condemned the killing of a Muslim labourer in Rajasthan, alleging such crimes against minorities are a result of hate propaganda pursued by Hindutva groups in BJP-ruled states.
The killing of the labourer, who hailed from West Bengal, allegedly in the name of "love jihad" on Wednesday, has triggered a nation-wide furore.
The CPI alleged the "accusation of love jihad was only a pretext to kill" the Muslim man.
"These type of crimes against minorities are a result of continuous and poisonous hate propaganda by Hindutva groups in Rajasthan and other BJP-ruled states. This should be checked," CPI general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy said in a statement.
Mohammed Afrazul (48) was hacked and burnt to death in Rajasthans Rajsamand district.
In a video of the killing shared on social media, the accused is seen declaring he killed the man to save a woman from "love jihad" and warning that anyone challenging the majority community would "meet the same fate".
