Crime against women has dropped significantly in the Arunachal Pradesh capital since last year after setting up of the first all-women police station here.
The police station was established here on June last year with minimum infrastructure to deal with cases relating to crime against women.
Setting up of women police station in all district headquarters of the state was approved by the state cabinet during 2012 and subsequently passed in the state assembly.
"Crime against women has dropped in the jurisdiction of the police station," first officer in-charge Inspector Chukhu Nanu Bui told PTI.
Charge sheets in 86 and final reports in 20 cases of the total 123 cases registered till date have been submitted, amounting to 70 per cent cases being solved.
The cases from other districts are referred to respective police stations, she said.
The cases ranged from domestic violence to kidnapping, murder, rape and cheating with the promise of marriage, besides harassment by husband.
Besides tackling crimes, the police station attends to calls round-the-clock, offers counselling to women in distress and seeks help from Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women, the OC said.
