An inquiry commission was ordered today by the Rajasthan government into the escape of three criminals, including gangster Anandpal Singh, from police custody in Nagaur district.
"It has been decided to appoint an inquiry commission to look into all aspects related with the escape incident. Deepak Upreti, senior IAS officer and principal secretary of cooperative department has been asked to carry out the inquiry," Home minister Gulab Chand Kataria told PTI.
The officer has been asked to submit the report by the end of this month, he said.
Criminals Anadpal Singh, Subhash Moond and Srivallabh managed to escape from a police van, while being taken back to Ajmer jail from a court in Nagaur district on September 3.
Few unidentified aides of Anandpal Singh, who were in another vehicle, had allegedly opened fire at the police van and helped the criminals to escape.
Most of the policemen present in the van were unconscious as they had consumed poisonous sweets offered by the aides at Didwana court premises, where the criminals had a hearing.
