A sub-inpector was injured in the Purwa area of this district during an encounter yesterday after which an alleged criminal carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 was arrested, police said today.
Superintendent of Police Pushpanjali said after getting information about the presence of two bike-borne criminals, the police started a checking drive.
"Police started intense checking of vehicles in the area. During this, the criminals fired at the police. In the counter-firing a criminal sustained bullet injury on foot, while his accomplice fled from the spot. The criminal who sustained injuries on foot has been identified as Dhanraj Lodh. He has been arrested. Sub-inspector Pradeep Singh sustained injuries," the SP said.
The SP also informed that the arrested criminal was also carrying a cash reward of Rs 25,000 on information leading to his arrest. Efforts are on to arrest the second criminal, she said.
