The Special Cell of Delhi Police has nabbed a criminal, who had fled from its custody last month while in Rampur in Uttar Pradesh for court production.
The accused, identified as Mobin Sabir alias Babu, a resident of Rampur, was arrested yesterday from near Gokalpuri flyover. One .315 country made pistol and four live cartridges were recovered from him by the police team.
"Mobin has been involved in criminal activities since 2000. On January 19, he had managed to escape from the custody of Delhi Police personnel who had escorted him from Delhi to Rampur," said DCP (Special Cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav.
On the day, after being produced in the case he was taken to a hotel near railway station, Rampur for attending nature's call before the journey back to Delhi. Five Police personnel were keeping watch over him. However, he still managed to escape through toilet exhauster.
"The motive behind this escape was that Mobin was looking for an opportunity to eliminate one Mohd Salman as he had an apprehension that Salman might get him killed in jail to avenge his uncle's murder...," said Yadav.
