CRPF chief Pranay Sahay along with top paramilitary officials conducting anti-Naxal operations in the state today visited the Darbha valley ambush spot in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district where top state Congress leaders were killed in a Maoist ambush.
The Director General (DG), accompanied by his top commanders, made an on-spot assessment of the incident and the positioning of CRPF camps in the nearby areas during the visit.
There are two camps of the force, with about 100 men each, close to this ambush area which lies between Sukma and Jagdalpur in Bastar, the southern tip of the state.
The DG also discussed plans of inducting two new battalions (about 2,000 personnel) in the Chhattisgarh-Andhra Pradesh border axis with his officers and those from the state police, sources said.
CRPF already has 20 battalions deployed for anti-Naxal operations in the state.
The DG will now brief Union Home Ministry about the analysis of his day-long visit.
