CRPF is dominating in Junglemahal: CRPF IG

The CRPF is now dominating the Junglemahal area of West Bengal where the Maoists were earlier active, a senior CRPF officer said here today.
"I can confidently say that it is the CRPF that is dominating the Junglemahal area. The CRPF has witnessed immense success in Maoists hit Junglemahal area, which in turn has improved the situation in junglemahal area to a large extent that it has created a platform for carrying out developmental projects," IG CRPF Vivek Sahay said while addressing a press conference here.
When asked about the reports of Maoists trying to regroup in the Junglemahal area, Sahay said, "Look Left Wing Extremism is not a Bengal problem only. It is the problem concerning various other states of India too. So when the Maoists have been flushed out from Bengal, then it is quite obvious that they will again try to regroup. We are keeping a close watch on the situation. But as of now I can say that Maoists are not in a position of dominating junglemahal area."

Sahay also said that the CRPF is planning to raise a women battalion headquartered in Kolkata, with an operational radius of entire east and north eastern region.
"We have got the nod from our headquarters to raise a all woman battalion here in Kolkata, which will have an operational radius of entire east and north eastern region. This will be the fourth women battalion of CRPF," said Sahay.
