CRPF Director General R R Bhatnagar, who paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here, today said that the Maoists are formulating strategies to challenge the security forces and disrupt development work in the border areas.
"There is a peculiar situation in Odisha as most of the Maoist ultras come here from other places and unleash violence. CRPF and Odisha police are working on a comprehensive strategy to address the situation," Bhatnagar said adding there might be re-deployment of the para-military forces in the state.
He visited the state for the first time after taking charge in April. Bhatnagar, along with the Odisha DGP K B Singh yesterday visited several naxal hit areas in Koraput and reviewed the situation in cut-off areas of Malkangiri district.
"The CRPF DG and Odisha Police paid a visit to Koraput and the Cobra battalion and reviewed the naxal scenario in the state. We also discussed on redeployment of paramilitary forces with a change in strategy in certain corridors and areas like Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Malkangiri and Koraput," Odisha DGP K B Singh said.
