Crude oil futures slipped 0.63 per cent to Rs 3,621 per barrel today, in line with a weak trend in Asian trade, as traders cut down their exposure.
Crude oil for delivery in February was trading lower by Rs 23, or 0.63 per cent, at Rs 3,621 per barrel, with a business volume of 2,456 lots at the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX).
Also, oil prices for delivery in March moved down Rs 23, or 0.62 per cent, to trade at Rs 3,678 per barrel, with a business volume of 109 lots.
Analysts said the fall in crude oil futures is mostly in step with a weak trend overseas after an industry report that US crude and fuel stockpiles climbed last week.
Crude supplies rose 2.93 million barrels, the American Petroleum Institute said in its report.
The US benchmark West Texas Intermediate fell 0.36 per cent to USD 52.99, while Brent for was down 0.27 per cent at USD 55.29 a barrel.
