Crude oil prices on Tuesday rose 1.66 per cent to Rs 2,082 per barrel as participants widened their positions tracking a positive trend overseas.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in April traded higher by Rs 34, or 1.66 per cent, to Rs 2,082 per barrel in 23,678 lots.
Crude oil for May delivery was up by Rs 128, or 5.7 per cent, to Rs 2,373 per barrel with an open interest of 2,821 lots.
Analysts said raising of bets by participants kept crude prices higher in futures trade here.
Globally, West Texas Intermediate was trading higher by 0.87 per cent at USD 26.95 per barrel and Brent crude was up by 0.57 per cent to USD 33.62 per barrel in New York.
