At Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in far-month August was trading higher by Rs 20, or 0.69 per cent, to Rs 2,907 per barrel, in a business turnover of 200 lots.
Likewise, the oil for delivery in far-month September gained Rs 17, or 0.59 per cent, to Rs 2,880 per barrel in 2,317 lots.
Analysts said speculative positions created by traders influenced crude futures as oil prices edged up in Asia today.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate gained 0.90 per cent to USD 44.63 while global benchmark Brent was up 0.90 per cent at USD 47.13 a barrel.
