CSC e-Governance Services India, which manages more than 3.5 lakh common service centres, is planning to set up 6,000 CSC Academy centres across the country in the next three months.

The academy will offer courses from Symbiosis University, National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), and Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMGDISHA).

"Education is foundation of CSCs. We are going to set up 6,000 CSC Academy (centres) at block level in three months. These academy will offer courses from our partners and we will continue to add more courses and partners for the academy," CSC e-Governance Chief Executive Officer Dinesh Tyagi told PTI.

While NIOS, NIELIT and IGNOU will conduct test at their authorised centres, students enrolling in courses of Symbiosis will be able to appear in examination at CSC Academies.

"Most of our CSC success stories have been around education. This shows the appetite to learn among people in rural area. We need to take education to their doorstep. This is what CSC Academy will do," Tyagi said.

He said 35 per cent of total students in the country do not go to college and 65 per cent do not go beyond either due to non-accessibility of educational institutions or affordability or other constraints.

"We want to reach out to such potential students. CSC Academy will focus on providing education to men and women of all age who want to pursue their education," Tyagi said.
