Despite virtually being assured of a berth in the play-offs, Chennai Super Kings would look to continue their impressive show in the IPL when they take on Rajasthan Royals here tomorrow to ensure a top-two finish in the league stage, fielding coach Steve Rixon said today.
"A win here might just ensure a place in top two, so we would be trying our best against Rajasthan Royals who have been playing well recently," said Rixon.
"It is an important match for us. Rajasthan Royals have defended their fortress well and we too have come back strongly after the debacle against Mumbai Indians and beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in the next match quite convincingly.
"It would be a good match here and a victory will help us to a place in top two, so would be taking nothing lightly. We need to keep the momentum," he said ahead of team practice.
The practice session was later disrupted a bit by dust storm and light showers.
Talking about the areas of concern for his team, Rixon said, "We have been doing well but we need to do it equally in all three departments together. We are hunting for bit more consistency because we have not been doing it in all three departments together."

"We also need to bowl better in the death overs and giving away 87 runs in last five overs is not acceptable. We could not maintain the momentum in death overs. About 50-55 in last five is okay but not more than that."
Praising Rajasthan Royals youngsters like Sanju Samson and Stuart Binny for their impressive performance, Rixon said the way they have batted augers well for their future.
"I have watched Sanju and he is very impressive. Stuart Binny and few others too have shown their potential. It is good see all these youngsters come up so nicely," he said.
Asked what was propelling the likes of Rahul Dravid and Michael Hussey to excel in this format, Rixon said it could be because of enjoyment of the game and their relaxed approach.
"They are great batsmen. I feel it's the enjoyment coming out of playing and the relaxed feeling which has propelled Rahul Dravid and Michael Hussey to bat so well. There is no stress and they are enjoying their game.
