Cube26 to focus on home automation segment for growth

Tiger Global-backed Cube26 has unveiled a new version of its 'smart bulb' product and said it will launch more smartphone-connected devices in the next few months to tap into the nascent home automation market in India.
The company, which launched its smart bulb 'IOTA Lite' last year, has also unveiled its new brand -- Reos -- under which the products are expected to be launched.
"We are looking at more products. The next one we expect to announce in the next 4-5 months, maybe in the home automation segment. Our focus is on extending data science capabilities across software and hardware products to make them more intuitive and easier to use for today's connected users," Cube26 co-founder and CEO Saurav Kumar told PTI.
He added that the company has sold about 10,000 units of IOTA Lite in 5-6 months of the launch.
"We saw demand coming in from not just metros but cities like Chandigarh, something that we had not anticipated. We are looking at metros and tier I cities and talking to both LFRs and lighting distributors for the smart bulb," he said.
Kumar added that the new version, which has 11,000 Lumen capacity (making it brighter than its predecessor) will also be sold through online channels other than Flipkart in the next one month.

The Reos Lite smart bulb, priced at Rs 1,699, will initially be available through Flipkart.
Cube26 counts Flipkart among its investors.
The company has also launched a suite of apps focussed on camera, messaging and music which offer features similar to other popular apps like Prisma (photo app) and Shazam (music app).
Focussed on tapping into the the multi-billion dollar global Internet of Things (IoT) market, Cube26 had raised about Rs 50 crore in seed funding from Tiger Global and Flipkart. The company has about 140 people in its team.
Its software is installed on more than five million mobile phones with offer features like 'Blink to Capture' and 'Look Away to Pause'.
IoT is a network of inter-connected devices like smartphones, tablets, connected vehicles and appliances and harnesses relevant information from massive amounts of data collected from these devices.
For instance, with IoT, street lights will automatically switch off when they sense no traffic on the roads and consequently, save power.
