The Kolkata event was the precursor to the one-day Gout de France (Good France) food meet which will be held in 3,000 restaurants across the five continents on March 21, Damien Syed, the French Consul General to Kolkata, said at the dinner on Wednesday.
"Eight best restaurants from as many luxury hotels in the town, a cafe run by a local NGO and one hotel from Assam have been picked for tonight's event and all of them rolled out amazing French delicacies prepared by their Indian chefs.
The Good France Event, organised at the initiative of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, French government, will be held in all major Indian cities including Kolkata on March 21, he said.
Director of Alliance Francaise du Bengale, part of the worldwide network of 813 centres spread over 136 countries, Fabrice Plancon said, "All of us are now waiting for March 21 as I found Indian chefs doing such a great job in preparing French delicacies."
