Cochin Special Economic Zone Development Commissioner, AN Shafeena formally inaugurated the three units at the Electromineral complex, along with Murugappa Group Executive Chairman, A Vellayan.
The new units, a Zirconia Bubble Fusion Plant and two Alumnia Fusion Plants at the CUMI's Electromineral Complex set up at an investment of Rs 80 crore would ramp up capacity by 25,000 fused minerals, Vellayan said in a statement here today.
"I congratulate the team at Electro Minerals division in CUMI who have been in the forefront of technology and innovation, with several patents to their credit," he said.
The units, at full capacity will add about 25,000 tonnes of fused minerals generation with potential sales of about USD 30 million," he added.
CUMI's produces over 20,000 different varieties of abrasives, refractory products and electro-minerals which are currently manufactured in 10 facilities present across the country.
The company besides serving the domestic market also exports its products to 43 countries in North America, Europe, Australia, South Africa, the release added.
