Curfew in violence-hit Nainwa and Khanpur areas were relaxed for 12 hours today by the district administration as the situation there remained peaceful and normal.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Bundi, Pankaj Choudhary said curfew was relaxed for 12 hours from 7 AM to 7 PM in Nainwa and Khanpura areas of the district.
"After reviewing the law and order situation, curfew was relaxed from 7 AM to 7 PM today but will continue during the night," said Choudhary adding that curfew at night would also be lifted very soon.
The 12-hour long relaxation in curfew was also given yesterday, following which shops opened and people carried out their business as usual.
The SP further said that the Station House Officer (SHO) of Nainwa police station was removed for administrative reasons and sent to Bundi police lines.
"Satish Puniya, SHO of Sadar police station has been given additional charge of Nainwa police station. Circle inspector (CI), Hindoli, Kishorilal has been deputed as special officer for vigilance in Nainwa for a month," he said.
Choudhary also denied that police misbehaved or manhandled locals during curfew, which was clamped a day after communal tension erupted on Friday last.
The family members of those, accused in the incidents of pelting stones at Nainwa police station, setting a state roadways bus afire and causing damage in temple in Khanpura village and in mosque in Nainwa town, were levelling false allegations against the police, he said.
