Currency notes stashed in car fall on road
Press Trust of India Coimbatore Currency notes in the denomination of Rs 500 and Rs 1000, totalling Rs two to three crore, stashed inside a car was found strewn on the road after the vehicle dashed against a bus on the city outskirts, today, police said.
The car, proceeding to Malappuram in Kerala from nearby Salem, had brushed against the government-owned bus, resulting in it overturning and under the impact, the car door opened and the currency notes fell on the road, much to the shock of passers-by and bus passengers, police said.
On information, police and Income Tax department officials arrived at the spot.
From the bundle of currency notes seen,the amount was estimated to be Rs two crore to Rs.Three crore, police said, adding, the driver of the car is being questioned.
