Speaker BBL Butail adjourned the house within 10 minutes of the start of the day's proceedings after BJP members pressed for admission of their adjournment motion under rule 67 to discuss the law and order situation in the state.
As soon as the house met, BJP's chief whip, Suresh Bharadwaj demanded the discussion, saying Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh was facing corruption charges.
However, Butail maintained that the matter was in the court and thus could not be raised in the house.
Amidst uproarious scenes, Parliamentary Affairs minister Mukesh Agnihotri intervened, reminding the lawmakers that it was the last day of the session and they should let the house transact its business.
