A dawn to dusk Cuttack bandh called by Odisha Hindu Sena in protest against irregularities in Nabakalebar festival of Lord Jagannath evoked lukewarm response in the city today, while bar associations of the state sought a judicial commission of enquiry into the 'Brahma Paribartan' fiasco.
Barring a few picketing by activists of the fringe organisation at Badambadi and Link Road for less than an hour, normal life here was not affected by the bandh, police said.
Activists of the organisation tried to block the road near the bus terminus but normalcy was restored when police took into custody leaders of the organisation.
At least 14 activists of the organisation were taken into preventive custody and were detained, police said.
Opposition Congress had observed a bandh over the issue last week.
Meanwhile, secretaries and presidents of over 100 bar associations of the state assembled here under the aegis of Orissa High Court Bar Association and demanded a judicial probe into the 'Brahma paribartan' episode.
The lawyers across the state had abstained from court activities one day last week on the issue.
