Cuttack district DFO arrested
Press Trust of India Bhubaneswar Anti-corruption vigilance sleuths of Odisha today arrested a Class-I forest officer for allegedly possessing assets to the tune of Rs 5.51 crore which was disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Sudhansu Sekhar Mishra, Divisional Forest Officer of Athagarh in Cuttack district, was arrested and forwarded to court as he failed to satisfactorily account for possession of movable and immovable assets of Rs 5,51,40,348/-, said Director of Vigilance R P Sharma.
The DFO has been remanded to judicial custody for 15 days, a vigilance release said.
During simultaneous raids conducted yesterday at several premises of Mishra, vigilance sleuths detected huge properties including cash of Rs 93 lakh, gold weighing about 500 gram, vigilance sources said.
Basing on an allegation of acquisition and possession of disproportionate assets by Mishra, his residential rented house at Goudasahi, Madhupatna, Cuttack, Office chamber at Athagarh, paternal house at Gadabhitar village in Sonepur, another paternal house at SRIT colony, Ainthapalli area, Sambalpur, another building located at Bijakhaman Rugudipada, Bolangir, his apartment at Puri, his another apartment Bhubaneswar, a double storied building located in the state capital, Father-in-law's house at Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district, were simultaneously searched.
Besides recovery of Rs 93.61 lakh cash from his house, the search team found documents showing fixed deposits in postal, banks and Sahara India worth Rs 2,61,97,151.00, saving bank deposits in different banks and post offices worth Rs 93,23,762.00 and premium deposits in Insurance policies worth Es 19,13,338.00, they said.
Vigilance sleuths also detected immovable properties worth Rs 1,12,50,647.00 in Mishra's posession. They included plots in his name and in the name of his wife in Ganjam, Bolangir, Sambalpur, Kalahandi and Khurda districts.
Among other things, a flat at Bhubaneswar, another in Puri and two double storey buildings were also detected in posession of Mishra, they said.
