A body that maintains the key grid supplying power to Delhi today said any cut in supply to BSES discoms as threatened by state-run NTPC if they fail to clear dues of around Rs 1,300 crore, may affect the transmission network.
Two days back, NTPC had said it will snap power supply to Reliance Infra-backed discoms BRPL and BYPL if they fail to clear the dues by midnight on May 9.
In a letter to NTPC, Executive Director of State Load Despatch Centre Harjiwan Vyas said regulation of power to Delhi discoms will lead to imbalance in the grid, resulting in imminent threat to the grid security.
The SLDC, a entity of the Delhi Transco Ltd, takes care of the integrated operation of the power system.
Vyas said if NTPC schedules power to a particular region or consumer, it will result in overloading of inter-regional lines and inter-state lines which may lead to security of the grid.
"The grid collapse will result in disruption of power supply to strategic installation and institutions of national importance such as Government offices (central and state) like Supreme Court, High Court, Parliament etc," the letter said.
The NTPC had served notices on BYPL and BRPL to pay up the dues or face cut of power to the quantum of 2027 MW from midnight of May 9.
