"There is need to improve preventive vigilance mechanism in the various departments which report to us. As prevention is better than cure," he told NDTV.
The Commission will ensure that vigilance work is moving seamlessly, he said.
"So we would like to look at that and suggest to various ministries which are looked after by their Chief Vigilance Officers to streamline them (work) so that we reduce the areas of corruption," he said.
"Of late it is not uncommon to notice that it takes anything like 10 years or more in some cases before a case is finalised if a person who is involved in that case, if he is found to be guilty, we have had such a guilty person on our role for such a long time for no reason but mainly due to delay.
