"Vigilance Excellence Awards" have been instituted to encourage chief vigilance officers (CVOs) -- who act as a distant arm of the CVC -- and organisations, it said.
The Central Vigilance Commission, the apex integrity institution in the country, has been tasked with exercising superintendence over the vigilance administration and implementing government policies to check corruption.
"To give recognition to reforms and good work done by organisations in the field of punitive, preventive and participative vigilance, the Vigilance Excellence Awards have been instituted from this year," the release issued by Personnel Ministry read.
The awards will be given in three categories -- for CVOs/vigilance functionaries of central public sector undertakings, public sector banks and insurance companies; CVOs/vigilance functionaries of ministries/departments and for management in recognition of exceptional work done for creating overall environment of transparency and integrity.
The winners will be honoured during Vigilance Awareness Week 2017 -- to be observed between October 30 and November 4.
