CVOs to keep vigil on govt employees to ensure punctuality

Its a new job for vigilance officers in Punjab as the state government today issued a circular asking them to keep a vigil on habitual late-comers and absentees.
The Punjab government has made Chief Vigilance Officers accountable to ensure punctuality in their respective offices, and CVOs failing to maintain punctuality would face departmental action.
Stating this here, an official spokesman of the vigilance department said that the state government is concerned about the "lackadaisical approach" of the government employees towards their official duty.
He said that Chief Secretary Sarvesh Kaushal had already issued instructions to all the Chief Vigilance Officers in this regard.
He said that Chief Vigilance Officers of each department has been instructed to check their offices at periodic end; if they find any chronic case of absenteeism they must immediately bring that case in the notice of competent authority to take disciplinary action against the erring habitual offenders.
CVOs has also been delegated the powers to check the attendance of their respective office during the office hours too, he said.
"Notification in this regard has been issued", the spokesman said.
He said that it has come to the notice of the state government thought its various channels that despite the high-end advisory and strictures issued to the employees, the practice of absenteeism is still going on unabated.
